Just as a heads up, we made our reservation today under the COG room block. I was quoted a room rate of $129 per night for a single king. Definitely a pleasant surprise!
Yes, the $149 rate mentioned is only for the Saturday night before the rally and the Friday night after the rally. Rally nights are $129, higher for suites.

That information is correct and I am glad that $129.00 room rate is a pleasant surprise. The rooms at the hotel are good size with large bathrooms. Very modern and clean. Hotel was added and built in 2017. All new beds will be in place before our June rally also. :)

For those that are wanting to camp, I tried to make reservations at the Coronado Campground's website. It would not allow me because it was more than 210 days of the event. I called them, and the employee told me that I would have to wait till it's 210 days of the rally to make the reservation. I explained to him ot was for the COG rally, but he wouldn't budge.

Hi Irene, I have not spoken to anyone (Campground Management) about getting reservations at the Coronado Campground. When our group went through the campground to survey it there was no one to speak with. In the next 30 days I will get more information about Campground and KOA rates and get it posted for our attendees. Thank you for your patience.

Saw that, too. Also be very aware of the lack of hookups for RVs at Coronado. Looks like you’ll need a sewage dump cart for this place or you’ll need to drive around to the dump station every couple of days. I might be wrong because I just gave it a quick look.

Folks did you survey the Stagecoach Stop RV Park near 550 and 528 about 1 mile away from the hotel? I have not stayed there...but it does have full service sites for those that would want them. https://www.stagecoachstoprv.net/

Irene confirmed online that Coronado does not have sewer hookups, only water and electricity. They do have a dump station.
We're planning to stay there. Very short walk to rally central and very reasonable rates.
Our tanks will work for the 5 nights if we slightly conserve water 🫰

Just don't go digging in the west mesa!! Just watched the movie Boneyard. Apparently a serial killer was buring his victims out on the west Mesa back in 2009....

Robert, You were missed!
It will be just great to see both of you. Tell him we promise to have Irene's chain properly lubed and adjusted!

no bike for josh yet but he will ride my c14. I will ride the c10 i got from Fred.

I will trailer there and keep my rear end from getting to sore. ;) spend the night along the way too. Man I'm getting old

Will tell him Jorge. If not tho, he can do some work. It will keep him sharp. 😁

I tip-e-toed for 78,000 miles before lowered. I’d suggest lowering lol. Try it you’ll love it lol. I truly love it.
Booked my room yesterday. Be riding in from GA.
Ken, after last year, this week seem like a short ride!

Hi all:)
This might be the time to make a rally run for us! I saw the room rates and would appreciate the rally fees. Thanks!IMG_20241007_124258.jpg

The registration fees are not established yet for the 2025. Based on previous years, registration will probably be a little over a $100 total.

Reserved my room. Price per night after tax added is $149 and change.
Well after my wife and daughter got together to plan our family vacation for next year I was given bad news. They scheduled it same time as the National. They did kindly give me an option. Go to the National or go on vacation with the family. I’m thinking it’s in my best interest I chose vacation with family. All that being said I no longer need the room I have reserved. Not sure it’s possible but I may be able to transfer the reservation to someone if any interest. I don’t know if rooms are getting low on availability or not. No one night pre pay was required. Let me know or should I just cancel.

I miss seeing y'all. I hope I can get all the dust off the bike, it starts, and they let me cross state lines next year,

Merry Christmas friends...

Back atcha Gumby! Season's Greetings.

I have a wifi hack device that will hook up with your ankle monitor and make them think you are still at home.
I'll bring it with me to the National.

Damn kids......

My oldest decided he is getting married in June. Pretty joyous announcement in this house but kind of screws up my routes out across Kansas through Great Bend, Jetmore and Kalvesta then to Ft Garland and down through Taos retracing a bicycle trip I took from San Diego to Chicago.

Ahhhh well. Looks like Maine in the summer. I am happy for him.....hopefully one of my 4 boys will give me a grandkid.

Canceled my room reservations today. Now available.

Working on finalizing plans in the next few weeks. I have a bit of a logistical hurdle in that the orchestra I'm playing in has concerts on June 14 & 15 (we're playing Dvorak's 9th, New World Symphony...it's kind of a big deal for music nerds). That might normally knock me out...except that my parents live 14 miles from Rally HQ, in northeast Albuquerque. So I'm working out a plan to ride down the first week of June (only 1420 miles), stash the bike at their place, fly back to Oregon on the 7th or 8th, do the concerts, catch an early flight back down on Monday the 16th, then ride home after the rally. We'll see if I can pull this one off!

Good music!

Awesome! "From New World Symphony" #9 by Dvorak is one of my favorite pieces of music! Hope you can make it to the rally after playing at the concerts.

For all you food loving folks, don't be afraid of the green or red Chilli salsa they put on anything and everything. Made with Hatch chili's that are roasted (red is made with same chili just riper). Just a touch of heat but OH SO GOOD!! You'll get addicted to it. I'll bring back a couple gallons worth when I drive out to my moms. BUT .....wait for it...... Costco carries 505 southwest hatch chili sauce online..... pretty close being there. So when y'all get home and need that green chili on that burger, you'll thank me later...

Okay, it's officially on, I signed us up today. Now if I only knew what theshirts I ordered actually are going to look like...... ;-)

See you at the KOA or Rally Central.

Ron

Alright... Everyone {and Kuzin' Ted} brace yerselves..

I (and my luvly bride) just signed up for the National!
We're gonna be there!
Woo hoooooo!!!

Ride safe, Ted

PS: I forgot to mention kuzin'. Yer buyin'..

Taos is a town in northern New Mexico’s high desert, bounded by the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. It’s known for historic adobe buildings such as Taos Pueblo, a multistory adobe complex inhabited by Native Americans for centuries. A longtime artist colony, Taos also offers many galleries and museums showcasing regional artwork, including the Harwood Museum of Art and the Taos Art Museum.

cog-esr-route66.jpg

U.S. Route 66 or U.S. Highway 66 was one of the original highways in the United States Numbered Highway System. It was established on November 11, 1926, with road signs erected the following year. New Mexico has some of the most interesting stretches and attractions along this infamous route. And New Mexico has an old Rte66 and an older Rte66 - check out the maps.

cog-esr-madrid.jpg

Once a bustling coal mining town, Madrid is now a vibrant arts community with unique galleries, eclectic shops, wellness spas and cozy cafes. Stroll through historic streets, admire stunning high-desert landscapes and local culture. And Yes, Wild Hogs was filmed in part, in Madrid, including Maggies. It's a half day drip on it's own or can be included in longer routes.

Sadly I'll be canceling my hotel reservations. A medical condition has reared its ugly head, and I don't think the issue will be resolved by the time of the national. As I have family just down Coors road on the west mesa, i.was really looking forward to this one. Madrid will have to wait for another time. Ride on WILD COGS!!

Family circumstances (Irene's mom and her situation) are driving to only me attending the National, and I mat camp.
Where are the majority of campers (not RVs) staying? Coronado Campground or at the KOA?

Maybe find a roommate to share a room with?

Thank you guys.
Family drama shifted to high today. If things fall into place, we'll both go. If things don't, I won't be 1500 miles from my bride, I'll be next to her.
We'll make the call as late as possible.
I appreciate the help, good wishes, and prayers.

Positive thoughts and prayers for you, Irene, and her mom. I would love to see you both at the National but family always comes first.

Good call Jorge. We’ll miss you guys. Something like this is why we didn’t get to the Arkansas national.

We made the final decision last night...no 2025 National for us.
Too many uncertainties and obstacles remaining . 😄
Long list of folks we haven't seen in a while, that we were really looking forward to seeing, that we'll miss; more significant than the riding.

COG it is with deep regret to inform you that Carol, Blue, and I will be unable to attend the National Event.

I experienced a medical emergency on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and recovery will extend through the month of June. Recovery is expected to be 100% and look forward to seeing you at other events this year and of course we’ll plan to be at next year’s rally.

This was not a lightly taken decision; in fact, it wasn't mine to make. I am physically unable to ride, drive, or fly across the country.

I will be sending a video message for the group, and will truly miss being with you all. I am comforted knowing that the event team has organized another fantastic rally at a wonderful location, where fun riding, camaraderie, and COG family time will be plentiful.

Please have a great rally, enjoy yourselves to the fullest, stay safe, and be sure to share plenty of pictures.

Wayne, Carol & Blue

Before everyone departs for the National, I called the Motel to confirm my reservation's yesterday.
Everything was wrong.
Wrong arrival, wrong departure, and more importantly, they had me reserved for the wrong "number" of rooms. (3 instead of 2)
NOTE: The wrong dates were primarily my own fault, not theirs entirely. The 3rd room is a mystery.
{When I asked} they said that if I had arrived before cancelling the room (that I didn't know about) I would have been charged $$ for the first day. šŸ˜–

They are good folks to work with. Not complaining about anyone. Just suggesting that everyone check their reservation.

That said;
I cancelled the #3 room for now and will cancel the #2 room soon.
I held onto the #2 room for now as I wasn't sure if my son needed it.
I've now discovered that he reserved a room in his name.
I'll wait a day or 2 before I cancel the #2 room...... If anyone needs a room let me know.

Ride safe, Ted

PS: I asked and was told that they do have rooms remaining.
I'm offering this because I'm unsure if you can get the preferred/COG rate at this late date.

I'm wondering if he has ASIGNED someone else to be his designated handshake stand in?? I really thought that was one of the most personal greetings I've gotten at any if the nationals, and I've been to a bunch. I'd volunteer but I'm not cleared to ride myself til 7/3.

And here I am in se georgia, having to suffer eating jarred Hatch fire roasted chili salsa from 505 southwest....im so jealous of you folks the food your gonna experience.... !!

So in updating my Cancellation announcement, to report on my
medical progress.. I'm going with a psa or public service annoucement.

Don't put off issues with the PROSTATE!!

for years I've had urinary issues, ie frequent urination during the day and getting up 4 times a night. The day time issues I attributed to a positioning issue, because nearly every time I got up from a seated position i.had to GO! This began rearing its head about the time I turned 50years. Yearly examines had my PSA numbers in the low to.mid 6's. Alas the conditions slowly got worse and I lived with it. I'm now 65. For my 65th birthday I treated myself to a surgical.procedure to reduce the vice clamp, that my prostate had now become on my urinary tract.
While on a trip up north to visit family, worst possible situation happened. The prostate was so enlarged i couldn't pass any urine and had to have a catheter to finish the trip and while waiting for help from a urologist back home. Fortunately for me my urologist is a motorcycle rider and I believe he took pitty on me and got me into his surgical.rotation 2 days later. My surgery was successful and it's amazing to.sleep thru the night again, and not having to go, every time I get out if a vehicle or up from a chair. Can't ride until 7/3, hence my missing the national.

So in summary, DO NOT put off issues regarding the prostate. Urinary changes are a sign boys, get help, get healthy because YOU don't want to miss a national rally.

Join for the bike, stay for the people....!

That's a great load he's got.
Is that a custom paint? Looks really good
He has gear for hammock and tent camping depending on the location. Plans to hike in from trail heads of the Appalachian trail a couple of nights. So plenty of fluids along with the gear. He also has some hotel reservations to get himself out to the rally. We are going with the truck, trailer, and bike. So we have extra clothes for him.

Yes that should be a Barney purple color. It had been repainted before I got it. I think the color came from a Mini Cooper.

Heal up buddy! I was looking forward to seeing you again at this rally. I will see you next year!

Rode near rally HQ today then west on HWY 550 and back be sure that my bike is ready to roll! FYI Bring your layers and preferred hydration systems. The weather is getting into monsoon season with high temps and tropical moisture creating some interesting afternoon weather. Low pressure systems to the west suck up moisture from the Pacific and Sea of Cortez. Yesterday we had downdrafts and hail in the late afternoon after a high temp in the 90's. Sun, wind, hail and rain at the same time. Evenings are beautifully coasting down into the 60's after the awesome sunsets. Generally after the sun wanes any storms still raging slack off. Rinse and repeat next day.

That said the weather for rally week is supposed to start off a little drier but there could still be local monsoon storm cells moving through the ride areas. L1749579799856.png

Message from the Rally Master- Temps are going to be 10 degrees at least above normal through Monday 6/16 and then it backs off gradually and I was hoping for the opposite. As of now no rain in the forecast and light winds. Luckily it cools off overnight so to beat the heat we all may want to get an earlier start on our rides and come back before the heat and sometimes traffic is at its worst in the late afternoon. I will give an update again soon.

Safe travels to all and we all look forward to seeing you at this year's National!

Jorge and I were so looking forward to being at the National this week. Hopefully, we will make it to next year's. Maybe it will be in southern Indiana
😜
